That's it I have resigned!

Well that's it I  officially left on 6th July. I have done my 2 weeks notice (well not exactly as I have been off sick as still have no feeling in my feet!).

No leaving present, not even a card - just a short email saying they thank me for my "efforts" over the last two years and wish me luck in resuming my nursing career! even nurses who have only been there a couple of months got more than that.  Don't get me wrong I don't want a party - I don't do social events, it's difficult when you are in bed at 8 o'clock every night but to not even get a card!! Mind you I was never included on the practice website either despite the fact everyone else was - it really feels like I was invisible to the patients, and to add insult to injury my job was advertised in the County Press the same day I left.

I was unable to offer advice to any patients even if they had phoned in distress when there were no medical staff available because I was 'employed as admin' and not 'nursing staff', despite having as much (if not more) knowledge than they did. I'm sure that was a contravention of the 'act or omission' clause of the Code of Professional Conduct.

Perhaps I was too good for them, I had to teach myself most of the job as was given scarcely any training and they kept adding more and more to what I was expected to do, but no more money or hours to do it in. Looks like I might have made the right decision, I was obviously not valued despite going in at night with hubby when he did the cleaning to sort out any problems as unpaid overtime. I just hope if I find something else I get a half decent reference (if they remember who I am!). I have actually approached a nursing agency but more of that soon (hopefully) when I find my feet again - literally!
